The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) is inviting employers to have their say about University level courses in the area. SWLEP, which is a private sector led partnership between Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council and local business has identified the need for a higher skilled workforce across the region. This will help meet increasing employer demand for people in jobs requiring university level qualifications.
By 2026, we want Swindon and Wiltshire to be renowned for innovation, entrepreneurialism and our great quality of life. One of the SWLEP’s priorities for investment is to enable an appropriately skilled and competitive workforce to achieve our growth ambitions.
We are developing a Higher Education Strategy so that we can shape a more comprehensive higher education offer in the area and enable more residents to gain the University level skills that employers need.
This is a great opportunity for employers to have their say and contribute to the evidence on University level skills needs and solutions moving forward. Paddy Bradley, Director of the SWLEP said, “employers are key to the development of the strategy, the more employers we hear from, the more robust the evidence will be.”
IXYS UK has worked with our Higher Futures team to enable them to develop the skills they need to innovate and grow their business. Phil Townsend, IXYS UK’s Company Secretary and member of the SWLEP Skills and Talent Sub Group, said:
“Ideas and people are key to a growing, innovative and more productive businesses. This is why IXYS UK supports the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership in its development of a Higher Education strategy and we would encourage your business to take part in the employer survey as well.”
If you are a business or organisation that employs people in Swindon and Wiltshire, we would appreciate 10 minutes of your time to complete the survey.
